Pharmacokinetic Studies
Gwathmey Preclinical Testing Services, Inc. performs pharmacokinetic studies in small animals. We have expertise in accurate time point blood collection with quality samples of more than sufficient volume to enhance the evaluation of clearance of your drugs or compounds in small animals. These in-life studies will provide the information necessary for dose level selection, dosing frequencies, formulation, and routes of administration.
The dosing regimen of your choice will be applied to your project (oral gavage, intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular, or by dermal application).
Gwathmey Preclinical Testing Services, Inc. offers in-house protocols to help you decide on the PK study that is right for your project. The proper time points will be selected based upon the administration of your compound. 10 to 11 timepoints can be collected in a day (not to exceed 15% of the animal’s blood volume). Only small amounts are needed for analysis. Pharmacodynamic endpoints may also be included if desired.
Blood collection can be from retro-orbital sinus, cardiac, jugular or carotid (cannulated animals) or tail bleeds. Samples are collected in a manner to avoid hemolysis.
Blood samples are collected and spun down to separate the plasma or serum. Gwathmey, Inc. will have the samples analyzed and back to you within five to seven business days after completion of your study.
